I am proud of being Slovak, Romanian, Austrian, Czech and European

Students of Slovakia, Romania, Austria and the Czech Republic were discussing the issues of being proud of being Slovaks, Romanians, Austrians, Czechs and Europeans. Here you can find some of their ideas. Austrians feel firstly local patriots, Austrians and then Europeans, Czechs think they are both being proud of being Czechs and Euroepan similarly Slovaks and Romanians are happy living in their countries which are part of developed Europe. Some of the ideas of the students are here:
 Zuzana - I am proud to be a Slovak because of our values: dedication, hard work, volunteerism, sacrifice, and our love of freedom.
Nikola - I am proud to be a Slovak because of our traditions, like everyone helping one another. Katka - I am proud to be a Slovak and European because of the history of my country and the kontinent where I was bor nand live and use all the opportunities my country and Europe offers me and all its Citizens
 Lenka - Yes, I am, I'm really really proud of being a European, the same like being a Slovak. Europe is the place where the civilization started, where we have lots of history, where we have the culture.
I'm so proud to be a member of the European Union and the European citizen, using the Euro and much more. - Laura
Lucka: What makes me proud of being Slovak This question is in general difficult. There are many facts that I could be proud of, but there are also facts, that I could be ashamed of. I think, that it is not very important if I am Slovak, German or Japanese, because every country has its own history, their own wins and failures, their own heroes and denoucers. In my view, everyone should be proud of its country, because every country has some pros and cons. I am proud that the country I live in is a democratic state and that the comunism fell down. I am proud of our society, that we are spreading step by step, day by day. I am proud of Slovakia because this country is a lovely place to live in. We are surrounded by natural beauty. In Slovakia there are many beautiful towns with unique history, originally architecture and many interesting sightseeing monuments. Slovakia has special traditions and these traditions are different according to the part of Slovakia you are in. I am proud of my parents and parents of their parents. They have taken care of me, they taught me how to behave, how to decide, how to work by my own hands. I know, if I want something I have to do everything to get it. If I study hard I will be accepted to university and I will achieve my goals. To sum up – I am really proud of our country, of Slovakia.
Andreea Morlova, Pop Roxana - I’ m proud of being in the EU: - because we contribute to taking important decisions. - our oppinion maters. -the variety of cultures from Europe traditions.
Raluca Dobrogeanu - I am proud of being Romanian because: - we have writers who made our country known across the sea (Mircea Eliade, Mihai Eminescu, Liviu Rebreanu) - our country is beautiful, astonishing nature landscapes (Danube Delta, Scărişoara Cave, Transfăgărăşan) - we have rich and interesting history - we kept old traditions - we have a rich history;
Sorina Stancu - I am proud of being Romanian for the gorgeus mountain froms who makes you explore; - for the children who represent Romania in international contests, - for the discoveries romanian people had made in medicine, in gastronomy and so on.
Andreea Morlova - we have a lot of important personalitie such as Constantin Parhon (medicine, study of glands), Mircea Eliade (studies in literature and history of religions), George Enescu ( musician and composer, opera Oedip, presented in 1936 in Paris). - the singers offer us fame and aknowledgement in a positive way; - we have a rich history, we survived two world wars and we amnaged to keep our independence, - our gastronomy is varied and foreigners seem to really appreciate our tastes.
Dumitrana Lupu- the most cures, medicine pills, surgical interventions and machineries were invented by Romanians; -the second building in the world belong to us, and it is a great symbol for us. We are friendly people and it is very imporatant :).
